Has anyone tried these? I found one dirt cheap and put a "custom-Custom" in the bridge and a Dimarzio DP188 Protrack Mini-Hum in the neck, new pots and jack, setup, D'addario strings and this thing wails!!!! Kind of a cool look as well.
I've been looking into modding Squiers as a permanent thing. I can't get over how great my Squier Protone Strat is and I've been eyeballing one of those cyclones or jags! Show me yer Cyclone!
I wanted a Fender Cyclone II, but don't like strat trems. So I got a Mustang
Truth, I love Cyclones, wish Fender didn't discontinue them... Cyclones have thicker bodies than Mustangs (probably to accommodate the strat trem) and Gibson scale rather than Jag scale, though in the end both of those are about the same in practice.
Stick some 1 meg pots in that and you're nearly golden
True, it's a Fender but it's the same thing, basically. I really like it. Messed with the height of the pups and not it's perfect for me. Only mods I'm doing is doing something to the tone to make it more dramatic as I turn it and splitting the middle position as I find it kinda daft to have a position where there could be no hum (not that the hum is noticable) and where quack could be present and they took the lazy way out.
Fender should be shot in the nads for discontinuing this. Great price and features on a solid instrument. No problems with mine.
