Well I have already returned 3 guitars. No more returns. Thats why I need to make sure I get this one right.
I dont think I can tell if the pups have been switched based on just hearing. I can tell if a pup position sounds with a lot of mid range, you know like a Kipsch without any EQ. I dont mind if there is more high end with laid back mids as that is the type of sound I like.
I dont have an amp with EQ nor I am planning to hook up the guitar to my audio receiver to do the EQ. So as long as they will not have too much mid range (very forward sounding), it is fine with me even if the pups have been switched.
Basically I am looking for a guitar with a lot of sustain. I should have gone with the Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder with the Sustaniac in the first place instead of trying other low end guitars or any DIY. I dont want to buy the Schecter without trying it out, even if it is a model without the Sustaniac as I dont like the location of the toggle switch which is right where my fingers will be. I cant find a place where I can play that Schecter. The local GC does not have the Schecter Sun Valley.
