Squier Jaguar, need pickups Stoner/Doom

Picked up a new Squier Jag a few months back, still looking for my sound.

I have a replacement kit I purchased off ebay with humbuckers, wiring, switches, cover, etc. The whole kit and caboodle...
But while everything is apart I'd like to put some great pickups in there, now that I have a way to change them. The stock ones were single coil, and left no room for modification.

I play Stoner/Doom Rock. The originals only gave me the sound I craved when I doubled up two fuzz boxes and some gain in my old (now sold) Peavey amp, but it was so unruly with feedback that it was just too much. Uncontrollable...
But the sound was great! Too bad...

Now playing through a 40W Fender Champion, the old amp was just too complicated with all its settings, and only 15 watts. This one is much better for me.
Also picked up a different Fuzz pedal, the Way Huge Russian Fuzz. Just going to stay with it.

So any ideas on good Duncan pickups for my rig? So many to choose from.

It has a 24" neck, trem and fits my hands perfectly. That is all that matters.

The slug is a pickup. You will probably want something abbot darker flavored for a Jaguar based on the scale. Did you retain the 1 meg pots?

Yeah, it sounds like you want something with a lot of output. I have never played a Slug or El Diablo, but they are both popular with the Doom players. You might also consider something cheaper and more classic like a Dimarzio Super 3 or X2N?

Stoner and Doom tones can vary, what are you going for?
Singlecoil-sized humbuckers might work?
People get good tones from singlecoils, like Scott Hill from Fu Manchu.

So the pickguard has single coil slots? Cool Rails neck and Hot Rails bridge?

Re: Squier Jaguar, need pickups Stoner/Doom

I’ve got a SD Custom 8 (a Custom with an alnico 8 magnet swapped in) in my VM Squier HH, and it sounds great through the couple of fuzz pedals I’ve got lying around.

Have you had much luck getting the tone you’re looking for from any other humbuckers? I’d think most of your tone is going to be coming from the fuzz pedal(s) you’re using.

Re: Squier Jaguar, need pickups Stoner/Doom

Pickups are the last thing I'd be worried about when it comes to doom/stoner, it's all about the amp and/or pedals. I'm using JB and it sounds awesome.
