Squier Starfire Semi-Hollowbody

Semi-hollowbody

New member
I recently purchased a Squier Starfire hollowbody with 'Duncan Designed' HB pickups. I posted a previous query in the forum, but didn't receive a definitive answer.
Can you please tell me about these pickups (tone, output, ohms)? They also seem to distort too easily, even when the amplifier gain is turned down. Are they 'hot' pickups? Do these have a ceramic magnet?

I believe that these are similar to the ones in the later Squier Master Series guitars.

Thanks everyone, for your help!

Re: Squier Starfire Semi-Hollowbody

Welcome to a great forum.

What amps, pedals, etc do you have? What types of music do you like to play? Forumbros always enjoy hearing more about your gear, etc.

I can't help you all that much as I don't know these pickups, but I'm a 335 fan so consider this a friendly bump.

Can you measure the DC resistance with a meter and post the results? It might give some indication of the output, but there are several other factors.

Also, what is your pickup height set at?
Have you tried to adjust the height?

Hopefully, someone will be of more help...Sorry bro.

Good luck.

Dave

well, i guess the first thing to do is to find out which duncan design pups they are. coz there are quite a few out there.

with that info im sure the forum bros will be able to help you out in your queries.

plus the duncan website has specifications on the duncan design pups as well, so you can go have a look there once you've determined which model you have

Remove the pickup mounting ring from the guitars body, look at the baseplate and read it. Then, tell us what it says. If you do that, we might be able to give you a better answer.
