Squier Switch Compatibility

I need to replace the 5 way switch on my Stratocaster -- it's an 09 Standard series, and it has no pickguard, so the switch is mounted to the body. I'd rather get a nice Fender or CRL switch than a cheap box-shaped one like the stock one, but I don't know if the spacing will be right. I can widen the screw holes if I have to, but will the screws be the same distance apart? I've looked for information on this and found little, and conflicting, stuff so far. Thanks!

Re: Squier Switch Compatibility

To my knowledge blade style switches have standard screw spacing. All tele and strat switches I've seen have been interchangeable. (4-way tele switch has slightly longer throw though)

Re: Squier Switch Compatibility

All the box switches I have replaced in my Squire and Ibanez guitars have been a standard spacing

You should be fine

In my Ibanez
I had to widen the slot for the lever just a tiny bit
So it could make a complete throw

It was body mounted like yours

Re: Squier Switch Compatibility

Yep. They're all the same. Get whatever switch you want, and be assured that it will fit your current screw spacing.
