I bought a Black Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom 1 with Humbuckers. I changed the stock pickups to the Hot Rodded Humbucker Set with the SH-4 JB in the bridge and SH-2 JM in the neck and keep the stock wiring. BEST DAMN GUITAR I OWN!!! What are your Opinions?

Re: Squier Vintage Modified Tele Custom 1

Seems like a great Les Paul substitute for those who like Telecaster bodies and are shopping the imports.

I have a Squier '51 and it kicks ass.

Re: Squier Vintage Modified Tele Custom 1

I had one, it was the second guitar I ever owned. I loved it and hated it at the same time. it had some nut and intonation problems that I was too dumb to know how to fix back then, a big divot in the 3rd fret, and the big killer was the broken off neck bolt stuck in the neck pocket. Someone drilled a screw into the neck, it broke off, so they left it in there and drilled the new bolt into the neck at a slight angle right next to it. LOL WUT. Mine was made in Indonesia in 04 and I named it Sophie.

By the time I was done with it, I had a dimarzio Air Classic neck and a D-Activator bridge with a coil split pot, so it got fairly Tele-ish when I wanted. I usually kept it in Open G.

Here's a pic of the one I had.

Re: Squier Vintage Modified Tele Custom 1

I've got a Squire VM jazz bass, and it's one of the nicest basses that I've played. If your tele's half as good you've got a really great guitar there. . .

My Closest Tele guitar to the telegib without spending a fortune on the right tele and parts modifying it.

Re: Squier Vintage Modified Tele Custom 1

Those things are great. I had the P90 version and talked my friend into one like yours. Now I'm trying to talk him into selling it to me.

Re: Squier Vintage Modified Tele Custom 1

I have the Custom II with the P90s. I changed the bridge saddles and machineheads. Immense fun for not very much money. Of course, I might be ever so slightly obsessed with P90s.

Next guitar? How about another Squier VM Tele Custom 1 only, this time, fit P-Rails and a shedload of mode switches.
