I just played one of those at a guitar shoppe near my mothers house. I was mainly in there just wasteing time. But I'de been playing all they're fender tele's and strats, and saw the black and chrome tele, and It just looked kool. I wasn't really expecting much from it, Figured it would just look kool but play/sound like garbage.
But to my amazement It totally blew away all the fenders I'de tried out there. Played better, sounded better, felt better, and actully seemed Better built in most respects. I gotta say I was totally surprised.
I've only played a handful of squires. I've normally just figured they were cheap poorly built guitars. But this tele has Kinda made me rethink that. Just totally way better than any of the fenders I was playing. And at 200 dollars Its deffinately a way better deal than an american, or Mexican fender.
The only issues I found on it were, Rough fret ends on the treble side of the neck, and the strings on it felt a bit crusty, But thats probably due to it haveing sat in the shoppe for awhile.
And as far as the fret ends go. Thats a problem I've noticed on most lower end Fenders too. Always a little roughness on the treble side of the neck. I wonder if they're still slideing they're frets in from the side like they used to?

but anyways. I was totally impressed with the quality of this squire. Is it wrong to be gassing for a squire? Cause I am totally wanting that guitar. haha.
whats everyone else's opinion on these squire tele's? Did I just find a Good one? or are they all generally as high a quality as the mexican teles? I mean other than the obvious differences (body wood being agathis and all), It seemed pretty much as high, or Higher quality than the mexican teles. And truthfully the odd body wood does really bother me, considering the tone seemed to be Pretty great sounding, even with those stock squire pickups. Perhaps agathis ain't such a bad thing after all.
I dunno, I'm done rambling. Just figured I'de tell ya all about my run in with a great cheap guitar.
