SRV Sound?

What SD pickups would one suggest to get the SRV sound out of a Strat? One Bridge HB and one middle single and one neck single. Thanks.

Re: SRV Sound?

Welcome to the board RodO!
I'd go with Antiquities all around. Great pups & I think you'd love the results.
Good luck.

Peace,

Re: SRV Sound?

Hey Darrin! How you doing buddy? Good to hear from you.

I agree with Darrin: either the Antiquity Texas Hots or the Antiquity Surfers.

If you prefer a tone with more mids and smoother highs go for the Texas Hots.

If you like the true vintage tone that's a little glassier, sparklier and chimier, but which can sound sound to bright for some players tastes (even though it's closest to true vintage) go for the Surfers.

The SSL-1 or 2 is a great sounding alternative to the higher priced a5 Surfers.

The APS-1 or 2 is a great sounding alternative to the higher priced a2 Texas Hots.

But the Antiquity Surfers and Texas Hots are definately worth the extra money.

Re: SRV Sound?

I've got to say that I've been experimenting with the Surfer neck and middle and Texas Hot Custom bridge combo and really like that too! The Texas Hot Custom bridge has more mids and less icepicky glass to the tone and sounds great as a bridge pickup with the brighter a5 Surfers for the neck and middle. Not saying it's the only way to go but it is another super high quality option. Lew
