Other than different EQ's shapes - what's the difference?
The output level seems to be roughly the same?

welcome to the forum!

other than sounding very different and looking very different they are almost the same! not really.

they both have strong output but the qp has a big bottom and strong top where the hot model is pretty mid heavy

Thanks! :)
So you think the SSL-3's would be too mid heavy for vox-style amps? Today I'm running my strat through a stock AC15c1 loaded with the greenback speaker.

not at all. a friend of mine ran his strat with ssl3 in the bridge into an ac15 and he loved it. not sure what pot values he used

Re: SSL-3 "Hot for Strat" vs SSL-4 QP??

I would think it would be great for Vox amps. Those sound great with some mids (early Ritchie Blackmore).

Re: SSL-3 "Hot for Strat" vs SSL-4 QP??

Ok! :) My intention is to tame those shrilling highs a vox amp is famous/infamous for and give it som punch. Guess the high end roll-off in that pickup will suit the vox.

Re: SSL-3 "Hot for Strat" vs SSL-4 QP??

Yeah, it should be fine. Those Voxes can really cut at loud volumes. I get why you'd want to tame that.
