SSL-3 in the neck and middle of a strat??

What do you guys think of putting a SSL-3 in the neck & middle-position of a strat? Right now I have the SSL-2 in the neck and I like it. But the tonal difference between the SSL-2 in the neck and my SSL-3 in the brtidge is way to big.

This will balance the volumes (and overall tone) if that is a concern...also consider the rw/rp middle SSL-3 for humcancelling in positions 2 & 4. Some people hate the idea of a hot bridge pickup. These types of sets are made just for you.

I'm considering to buy the SSL-3, I see one on my radar... But still I'm not sure if it's neck or middle. It only has this "3" at the bottom meaning probably the model number.

id go ssl5 (or ssl6 for flat pole) neck and middle over the ssl3, more juice than the ssl2 but not quite as much as the ssl3. if you use all ssl3 pups you end up with a thicker higher output verison of a vintage set where the pups are all the same which can lead to the neck over powering the bridge. by using the ssl5/6 in the neck and middle you get more output and a fatter sound but wont be as likely to over power the ssl3 in the bridge. do you use 500k pots or 250k?

Hi, Jeremy!

My situation isn't quite "vintage strat", I consider to have this SSL-3 Seymour for the neck position on my Charvel 375 Deluxe, which is Dinky-type with HSS configuration. I already have SSL-4's in the neck and in the middle, but I would like to change them now. I noted the "3rd" for being flat, not having that triangle base which won't fit the single pickup slot. So I suppose to have SSL-3 in the neck, Jackson J-100 in the middle (which is RP/RW, as the seller says) and maybe TB-4 or 5 in the bridge. I don't really think that this single will be more powerful that a humbucker. But I'm afraid that it will have a lot of bottom in its character. And the pots are 500k.

in that situation, the ssl3 should be fine. its got less bottom than a qp but more mids

Okay, I'll make it. Hope the pickup won't be sold soon.
