Re: SSL1 = Humbucker ___???
Just go for 3 singles.
sss or HH beats HSS because the outputs, the eq and even the tone/volume pot requirements are different between singles and humbuckers. With HSS you get an axe where either the humbucker sound really good and the singles sound really thin, or the singles sound great and the humbucker sounds muddy because you cant go back to your amp and re-set all the dials every time you switch pickups. If you want more beef in the bridge, keep it a 3 single set up, but get a hotter single like an ssl-5.
Thanks Luke, it does help and I'm looking at the jazz pickup right now. And I will look at the HSS configuration.
Would you include the jazz pickup in an HSS config over an SSS with all SSL1's? Ending up instead with Jazz+SSL1+SSL1?
Appreciate the help! I really prefer the chime and bell-like sparkle of SSL1's and related pickups although when placed in the bridge position it comes out slightly thin.
Thanks again!
