Stack plus cross reference to the straight single coil versions

Does anyone know all the different models of the traditional single coils and their coresponging Stack pickups.

I am probably going to go noiseless/ish

Classic plus = SL1
Custom plus = SL5/6
Vintage Hot plus = ????

I am really looking for a list of outputs, say from weak (vintage) to stupid melt your face Hot in regards to the Stack Plus line.

ATM I am thinking of 2 classic plus and one vintage hot plus bridge. But I am so not sure.

Re: Stack plus cross reference to the straight single coil versions

I am going to sidestep the single coil versus stacked hum-cancelling arguments. (Those could fill a very large book!) Instead, I shall agree with your stated preference for two SD Classics and one Hot Stack.

Re: Stack plus cross reference to the straight single coil versions

The closest siblings (listed in order of heat) are:

Classic Stack Plus - SSL-1 & SSL-2

Vintage Hot Stack Plus - None, perhaps Antiquity Texas Hot bridge pickup or overwound SSL-1 & 2

Custom Stack Plus - SSL-5 & SSL-6

Hot Stack Plus - SSL-3

After reading the descriptions of the Stack pickups I agree with frankfalbo. On the other hand what is the true single coil equivalent for Hot Stak (Stk-S2), the one with a single bar instead of poles?

Also, has anyone tried the new Custom Stak or the SSL-5/6? do the really get you closed to a SRV tone?

Re: Stack plus cross reference to the straight single coil versions

frank works for duncan so he should know :D

there is no real single coil equivalant of the old hot stack. the different pole piece will totally change the sound.

Now I am watching new product videos and know what frankfalbo means :)

Congratulation on getting YJM in the SD list.

Sorry for digging up an old thread - What about the Alnico 2 singles? Maybe some Kinman MKIII?

Re: Stack plus cross reference to the straight single coil versions

im sure the custom shop can do alnico II stacks with their new design.
the old classic stack models were alnico II and they were cool pups but dont sound as much like a real single coil as the new models.
