Staining body

Fingers crossed my primavera Tele body comes out good 🤞

But if it does, whats the process of staining/dyeing it?

I've heard that a wipe on die is the way to go, but first I've got to seal and condition the wood.

What's the process? What interactions between the chemicals do I need to watch out for? Do I need to sand between stages or even between coats?

Sorry for not giving too much details, I'm about to hit the road for a long trip, I'll be back with more later

The bad thing about staining is that you can't do anything but finishing it. Even if you sand lightly it will affect the colour of the stained wood - in most cases in an uneven way.

If you seal the wood first, the dye will only sit on top of the grain, instead of soaking into the grain. Is that what you want? I have NO IDEA what you mean by conditioning the wood.

Well, currently it's not even rough cut 😔

Things have been moving slow with work and life taking precedence over woodwork
