Stand alone digital recorders?

I need some information on stand alone digital recorders. Something I can pick up used preferably. I don't have a laptop, and the home computer is a dinosaur. I'm not really inerested in recording to the computer. It would be cool to get a unit that I could later use in conjunction with a computer based program, but that is not a necessity.

I need 4 tracks minimum, but nothing greater than 16. Some expandable would be cool, but again not a necessity.
I'm not looking for on board FX.

I just want something to do quick demos on, and add a few layers. 2nd guitar, drums, keys... I play a lot at home, and at church so something portable that I could take place to place with ease.

The unit doesn't need on board CD burning just as long as I can do that from my computer. I would like for it to be digital and not to tape.

Anyone have anything you'd recommend?

I have the Tascam 2488 and I can't recommend it enough.

It is an absolutely fantastic unit. Their smaller ones are very nice too but only record at 16 bit not 24.
