will the std tele hold up to some good string bending? tried one in the shop and it seemed to be pulling out of tune, but i didnt have alot of time with it. would the hwy1's or the ash lites be any better?

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

I can bet with almost 100% likely hood that that was because the shop didn't stretch the strings when they put them on the guitar.

Incase you're unaware - when you restring a guitar, you should stretch the new strings and retune until they stop dropping in pitch after you pull them. Just pull them outwards... make sure to be careful with the B+E though as they can be snapped if you're not careful

I've been playing several MIM (new ones) teles over the past week and a few have needed their strings stretching in. After that they've all been fine for staying in tune. I'm a huge fan of Friedman+Poland's solos in Megadeth which are very bend-happy so there are a lot of bends in my style :)

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

my MIM stays in tune great. I actually like the MIM better than the Highway 1's that I've played. everything just feels better, but thats my opinion, of course :usa1:

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

A properly set-up MIM Fender should have no issues with tuning stability.

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

Both of my MIM's stay in tune perfectly.

The best thing is to get those POS Fender strings off them and use a set of somehting real. Like GHS...

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

thanks , u guys like the pups in the new MIM teles? is the hum ok?

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

They're ok. Not as much character or chime in the mid position as the American standard teles I compared them to, but they're usable and do sound like a tele. No hum troubles that I noticed, seemed pretty average for a single coil guitar, but I never got it up to 'gigging' volumes so I can't confirm that 100%

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

My MiM is stock except for the pickups. It holds tune every bit as well as my OFR.

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

My MIM tele stays in tune extremely well!!!!! i bash the hell out of the strings and they stay in tune pretty well.. My Epi's on the other hand will never stay in tune for me.....

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

Mine keeps perfect tune (until my fingers hit the fretboard)

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

If the guitar has halfway decent hardware & strings, the only reason it won't stay in tune is a bad setup.

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

I rarely have to pull out the tuner for mine.... and i play mostly traditional country. (string bendin' city!)

The pickups do have a totally "tele-character" to them, although not an exact vintage tone, they blow away both my strats in terms of punch, volume and output.

I have very little hum issues to speak of also....

And last but not least, if your also considering a HWY 1.... that and the MiM Standard have the exact same tuners.

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

Never had any problems with mine.

Re: standard MIM tele - will they stay in tune?

Tele's stay in tune better than most other guitars for some reason. I've never played a guitar that stays in tune better than my Tele. I've tuned it maybe once in the last year. I don't play it often though, so that's why my strings are the same.
