Standard production Wah Wah with true bypass?

Re: Standard production Wah Wah with true bypass?

I use the Vox V848 Clyde McCoy model. It comes with true bypass and sounds a lot better (more vocal) than the V847 or the standard CryBaby IMO.

The Fulltones have a great reputation too, but are more expensive - haven't tried one myself.

I'll put this thread in the amp room ;)

Thanks Simon - I'll check one out.

Re: Standard production Wah Wah with true bypass?

What wah do you currently have? If its a Dunlop Crybaby you can easliy mod it for true-bypass.......Thats what I did to mine, made a huge difference!

Some random Wah info:

Ultimately this is what I'd like to do:

'One' may be able to do that, I struggle to do a plug...seriously, I make 4-year olds with learning difficulties look technically competent...;>)

Dunlop CryBaby Classic and 535Q also have true bypass.

Re: Standard production Wah Wah with true bypass?

I recenty brought a Teese RMC Wizard wah off a forum bro which is a great Wah for Buckers and heavier sound, very smooth. After I got that, I thought what a waste of the Dunlop Wah, so on the recommendation of guys on here I got an Area 51 vintage Italian Wah drop in kit. It took me 15 careful minutes to change the boards, and the result... it's superb. Different to the Wizard.. so now I have 2 superb pedals... and the bonus is they sound great when both on at the same time. Well worth the money.

sounds very interesting, how much did you pay for the area 51 kit?

Roger Mayer also does a great wah 'Drop In' kit called the Red Lion.

There's a 'standard' version or the 'Band Of Gypsies' version which has a lower high frequency peak than the standard 1 (if that makes sense?) and is thicker in the midrange.

It was $139 delivered.. only took 5 days from the U.S! I honestly think it's superb.. I've never really been into Wah, but now I want to keep playing with it switched on. In all honesty, if I had found the Area 51 first, I doubt that I would have got the Wizard.. not because it's not as good 'coz it is a different sound, but 'coz the 51 is a really clear classic Wah that also boosts the volume very slightly to ensure you don't get lost in the mix! It's excellent!!

Re: Standard production Wah Wah with true bypass?

i was skeptical at dropping 70 quid, but this is the kinda thing i've been looking for.. have you tried it on bass?
