If you decide to sell it later, the Squier will not hold much of it's value (but can be found cheap.)
The M-50 doesn't have a Floyd, does it? I think that one has a Fender-style tremolo, so pass on that one.
I'd go for the Schecter, and swap the pickups on it. If basswood, go for a set of Dimarzios, like Evolutions or Breeds. If mahogany, grab a Seymour Duncan 59 for the neck and TB-5 Duncan Custom for the bridge.

Yeah, I was going to say. Find a well treated used Ibanez RG5XX. Best "shred" guitars out there for the money. They do so much more too.

Do yourself a favor and get a Kramer Focus or similar 1980ties shredder. Made in Japan by ESP, properly painted, original Floyd Rose that doesn't fall apart and doesn't flex. Same price used as mystery wood guitars with hardware that makes you wonder where the "hard" in the word is supposed to come from.
Ugly as sin, though.
Similar Squiers, Ibanez etc count, too.

^ those might be ok, but i'd go for an old MIJ RG with an original Edge over the Edge III made in china or korea. if you plan on blocking the trem then those might be great options, but if you're planning on playing it for a while i'd go MIJ. my '91 or '93 RG570 (can't remember
) still had it's original trem system in it and worked great!

Save your dollars, headaches, re-sale questions, quality issues, country of origin curiosities....and get a Charvel like this.
2010 models are made in Japan, but the last several years are all US. There are still a few new ones floating around.

Judging from the models he mentioned, I'm guessing he has a $200-$300 budget.

Those are awesome, but very expensive. I have a Classic and a Mojo, but I grab the Charvels and Jacksons before a Parker.
