Hi everyone,

As I can't afford a 6 grand guitar, I've been planning on making a tribute to the Robbie Krieger's Les Paul. I've just been having a hard time deciding which pickups I'm eventually going to put in it. Krieger's has a 54 P90 in the bridge and a SM-1 in the neck, so I was planning on using a antiquity in the bridge and SM-1 in the neck.

However... Last year a stuck a PX90 from Arcane in my junior and I love that pickup! It's really temping to put that in instead of a vintage sounding antiquity. I'd probably have to put a SM-3 in the neck to balance the output of the 12k PX90.

Any thoughts?

welcome to the forum!

with the right heights i think you could get the px90 to balance with the sm1 in the neck if you wanted to go for a more modern sound

I think the minihum is well equipped to go with almost any pickup in terms of output. So yeah, that might work.

On the other hand, SD's p90's are sweet, too. much less rude, though, but with an open voicing I really came to appreciate.

SM-1 is loud. I pair it with SP90-2n in the bridge (11.86k according to SD). No output balance problem.

I'll go for the SM-1 in the neck then. Still undecided on the bridge, I'm sort of biased towards the PX90 because I haven't heard the antiquity. I have heard nothing but good things about them thought!
