STC-2C BO installation issue

I just got a second Seymour Duncan STC-2C BO Blackouts preamp for a jazz bass (loved the first one so much I bought the second one). Upon installation, I noticed that the treble control cuts the volume at either end of rotation (with a fair bit of static during rotation), but in the middle detente, it's fine. It's difficult to tell if the treble control is effectively controlling anything though, because of the volume cut, but it sort of appears as thought it might. What's odd is, the bass control works just fine.

I checked it against the instructions, and the installation on my other jazz bass, which works just fine, and they're identical. So, I'm either seriously missing something, or the preamp is defective.

Is it a likelihood that it's defective, or is there something I should look at elsewhere?

Re: STC-2C BO installation issue

In which position is the mini DIP switch that sets the Treble frequency? (It needs to be definitely selecting one frequency or the other rather than lodged somewhere in between.) Have you tried a squirt of electro-lube into the treble pot resistance track?

Re: STC-2C BO installation issue

I've tried it with both, and neither changes the behavior. And it's a concentric pot, and I can't see where any lube would go in, like a regular pot.

Re: STC-2C BO installation issue

In that case, your best option is to return the EQ to the place where you bought it, explain the defect and request either a replacement or a refund.

Re: STC-2C BO installation issue

3 options
1 call sd for repair prices to put a new dual concentric pot in place. Free to 20$. ??????

2 carefully desolder the old pot and put a new one in 12-15$

3 spend 60$ for a new stc 2c

Or Live with it for now

Feel bad for ya
