Steve B. Needs a bad back strap - Slip Strap hip strap??

Re: Steve B. Needs a bad back strap - Slip Strap hip strap??

Looks like a cool idea but the guitar needs to be hanged too low for any lead playing higher up the neck.

Can certainly see it being practical for mostly chord playing though.

Only other downside is the permanent modification of the instrument.

I saw ads for the waist strap thing you speak of the other day in a guitar rag.. As a fellow back sufferer (3 surg's, 2 were fusions), It caught my eye. Looks promising, but I have not tried one nor spoken to an actual user.. Good luck and keep us informed if you find something!

Found this:

https://www.amazon.com/Slinger-Straps-Ergonomic-Guitar-Shoulder/dp/B00QHVMNTM

looks kinda cool, cept you have to put a button on the lower horn..

Slinger Strap - received,
Good and Bad: Well, it does keep the guitars weight off your back, but on your pants or as a belt buckle, your pants will be on your ankles unless you tighten it hard.
It did not flip on my Strat, that's good, and you can make the butt higher, so that's good, but it is stuck in place. Want to move to the left, or just lean over to get a drink? You guitar goes with you.
Think - my guitar is superglued to my body in one position and will not move. This is a deal killer. I might as well shove a broom stick up my ass to my L-4,5 L-4,3 vertebrae.
Fix? I am going to try to meld my usual strap and the Slinger butt strap together, hard, so the weight is carried on the butt, however, I will try to use the top horn strap in the usual way so I can move less like a manikin, and more like an organism.
I see this as a possibility, if not, he said 20 or 30 day warranty, so one more update to come.
Steve B.

You'd think this sort of thing would be more popular than it is, and that a ton of companies would have redesigned the strap as we know it. I'd think there would be a market for it, too.

...plus the amp gives me a sonic ass massage also.
B.

Can I please use "Sonic Ass Massage" as my next band's name? Or at least an album title.

Seriously though, I hope you find a good solution.

I wonder if some sort of modified lifting belt, like people use in warehouses, might help. They are sort of like black velcro girdles. Maybe a conventional strap combined with a bunch of velcro tape like used for pedalboards could help distribute the weight of the guitar more...?

Good luck with everything and keep us all posted -

Saladin,
Thanks, but that has been addressed already.
hydro,
I'd be honored for you to use that any way you wish. Sonic Ass Massages are hard to come by.
That strap is a no go. I can't find a way for the butt to work in conjunction with my neck strap. Remember, this is me. What
I need it to do. I already explained how it is wrong for me. So that's it. 6 pound guitars or less. My stage Strat will only have 1
H'bucker, as that's all I need for this band. It will be a C/59 if it works like everyone says. It weighs it at 5.8 with chambered to death Strat body, but it stays in tune with a Fender Deluxe Trem, pop in arm and my usual string hole lengthened saddle plate
mod, which I've described add nauseum on this forum many times.
I bought a Squire Bullet, ripped out the insides, will replace the 'guard with a Warmouth. Use a Seth Lovr A4 bridge only
for a stage backup. Weighs 5.7 pounds. Basswood 2 color blended (ha) finish. It works.
I saw a Dean Zelinsky "Voche" that is a beautiful and VERY THIN LP type of design with a gorgeous maple top,
guy says they are 7 pounds, it has Fender like double coil slug in neck, it goes single coil and sounds Great. It comes with a piezo, and you can mix that in or use by itself. 12" radius, medium jumb. frets, a 6 pound version is possible, MAYBE, you gotta see 'em,
Tell em Steve Buffington sent you. They are a grand - depending. I promised I would never buy another guitar, but damn,
this is sweet. Top Raman, Ketchum soup. Rob a chicken coop. Just a little - good cause.
Review over, Slinger Strap not for me, review above, can see it for some one else, just not me.
Thanks for your kind words, they matter. Very much. Thought I was alone, and am sorry for those in my condition.
If I was a praying man, I'd say "God Bless you all", but I am not, so I say Thank you all again, for the kind words of encouragement!
Steve Buffington So, quit practicing, and just play for the love and fun of it.

Re: Steve B. Needs a bad back strap - Slip Strap hip strap??

Isn't the Parker Fly supposed to be extremely lightweight ? If they do a model with 3 single-coils, that might be the way forward.

Re: Steve B. Needs a bad back strap - Slip Strap hip strap??

^^^^^^

Pretty sure that's why Mark Farner(sp?) made the switch years ago...

Re: Steve B. Needs a bad back strap - Slip Strap hip strap??

Sorry the strap didn't work.

Parkers are a great suggestion–super lightweight with monster tone. I miss mine, should never have sold it.

I wonder if there is a way to build off of the waist design...like if it could have really strong elastic or something to allow you a bit of movement but not negate the support...

Re: Steve B. Needs a bad back strap - Slip Strap hip strap??

Way back, when I saw The Doobie Bros, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, sat for the entire show.

Re: Steve B. Needs a bad back strap - Slip Strap hip strap??

Yeah, the Parker Fly! Just over 4lbs.
I will say, that if my back issues get worse, I have no problem sitting. I am not going to be in screaming pain or injure myself further for anyone's entertainment.
