The SPB-4 custom-spec vintage-hot coil windings (13k Ohms), and Alnico 5 rod magnets provide just the right combination of warmth and punch to compliment Steve’s distinctive two-fingered playing style. The hook-up consists of a standard two-wire P-Bass setup, and the covers feature both the Seymour Duncan logo and Steve’s signature logo.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Do you have a better chance if it is Number of the Beast? ;)

First heavy metal song? Not joking, it was Run To The Hills - Iron Maiden.

First album was Master of Reality - Black Sabbath

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

It would be either Jealous Lover - Rainbow or Heaven and Hell - Black Sabbath.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Metallica - Ride The Lightning (the album. It was the first album I ever bought)

Coincedentally, they started their "Bang the head that doesn't bang" tour in support of RTL on the very day of my birth, November 16th 1984, and then RTL was re-released by Elektra 3 days later.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Being the age that I am, the obvious first hearings would have been early Zeppelin, Sabbath, Purple et cetera. Since everyone and his/her dog will be posting those, my nomination is "Glory Road" by Gillan.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Actually it was Iron Maiden's "Run to the Hills". Not making it up for the benefit of the poster :)

(this assumes that Deep Purple doesn't count as heavy metal)

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

I don't know if KISS was considered Metal back in the 70's (I was too little to know), but Detroit Rock City got in me to the style. Later on, it was Quiet Riot's Metal Health that pulled me in. It was the first Metal album I bought.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

First Heavy Metal song within the actual developed genre:

Holy Smoke - Iron Maiden

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

"One" by Metallica...the girl I liked loved it, so of course I had to learn it...

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

I ordered both Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak and Exodus - Pleasures of the Flesh the same day. I'd give credit between those two. :)

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Back in the day when my neighbor brought some tapes over, I think the Black album went in first so it would have been Enter Sandman.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

The first one I remember was "Looks That Kill" by Motley Crue. I know a lot of "true metal" aficionados don't count anything from those guys as "metal", but I already see people posting Zep songs which even the band members don't (and never did) consider "metal" either, so I'm going to count it. Sure opened the gates for me!

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Hm hard one tbh but it was something my dad got me into which was number pf the beast and first song I got was back in black ac/dc

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

First metal song? Whole Lotta Rosie - AC/DC

First album was Back in Black - AC/DC. Still got it after 33 years and still play it every so often.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

When I was about 11 years old, my brother gave me some of his CD's to listen to. One of them was Brave New World. I still have it, and the Wicker man is still one of my favourite songs.
