Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Metallica's Black Album, specifically Sad But True. Followed very shortly by my friend's dad's copy of Master of Reality.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Way back before I listened to heavy music it was **** like Nightwish and some British post-hardcore bands, but that was before I really dug into metal.
Then one day a friend of mine found out I play guitar and told me to learn to play a song and he sent me a link for Cemetary Gates by Pantera, and that was it I was hooked.
Still haven't learned the whole song to this day lol but I ****ing love metal more every day \m/

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Ooh! I wants 'em!

My answer: The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Are You Experienced? That's if you're talking about music that I personally consider to be "proto" heavy metal. If you really need a "metal metal" album, it was probably Black Sabbath's first album.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

MY first metal song i heard (i think) was Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, while helping my pops work on his '71 chevell SS. First album i heard in complete was either Powerslave or Killing is my business and business is good, i know it has to be one of those two

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

The first song I've heard was Iron Maiden's Wasted years. It's my favourite Iron Maiden song since 8 years. Then, because of that song, I buy Fear of the Dark album. Back then I didn't know anything of english so I was just guessin' in wich album the song I was looking for was.

Stil have that album like new. ~

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

The Trooper by Iron Maiden. I got obsessed with the song, and that is how i got my nickname (people call me trooper irl actually :D)

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

I have a feeling that I am the youngest member in this thread. I was a kid back then, my dad and brother were like going crazy about Iron Maiden. I wasn't really into metal at that time, my brother was like, "hey listen to the kick pedal in this one!". Ironically, now it's the opposite, my brother is no longer a metalhead, and I've switched place with him :O So yeah, my first heavy metal band was Iron Maiden.

Mr. Olson.

Is this giveaway open to absolutely all comers or is there a minimum membership period - like there is for ordering forum bro designed pickups?

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

The first band that got me into metal was probably Avenged Sevenfold with their self titled album when someone got me to listen to it in high school, then i spread into some would say more "real" metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth etc. and have listened to them since :D

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

The first metal song I heard was Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse, heard in the movie Ace Ventura Pet Detective, and loved metal ever since.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Deep Purple ... if that doesn't count

Highway Star? Burn? Woman From Tokyo? If these (admittedly) blues-rooted ditties are not Metal, neither is Led Zeppelin or Led Zeppelin II.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

It was probably Iron Man. Metallica's S&M was an early player as well.

Re: Steve Harris SPB-4 Giveaway

Not sure if AC/DC qualifies as heavy metal, but it ALMOST did back then! "High Voltage" was the song that got me hooked on both that band, and made me want to play electric guitar! As far as Iron Maiden goes, "Two Minutes To Midnight" showed me that REAL metal was a lot more exciting and technical, and opened a door I never knew existed...
