steve harris

Re: steve harris

Welcome!

Not sure about pickups, but if I remember correctly a key part of Steve Harris's bass tone is flatwound strings (on a Precision).

Re: steve harris

SD quarter pounder and while you're at it, get a badass2 bridge and a set of his signature rotosound strings. slap it on a P bass and you got a true replica

Re: steve harris

The Steve Harris replica bass made by Fender came with a QP but based on his tone I might believe that he could have used a more vintage voiced pickup.

wait a minute, they make steve harris sig basses?

Not in production any more but you can still find them around. I found a new one for a customer about a year ago. Big fat maple neck. BA-II bridge and Duncan QP. I don't think they ever sold real well so they stopped making them. The one I found had been on the wall in a store for quite a while.

You might go to this website and post and ask in the gear wanted forum:

Easy : must be quality, and not too pricey (for those younger metalheads). Two things that dont equal US made instruments.

:laugh2: :laugh2:

Sorry I couldnt resist :fing25:

Re: steve harris

ROFL

they werent that cheap though.. 1JBJr two hotrails and an OFR is more than 300 on itself... it was close to the price of a usa standard if i remember correctly

Re: steve harris

No, no, no......the key to the Steve Harris sound is black & yellow striped spandex with white Reboks, and white socks pulled up to your knees (and of course, one foot on the monitor in front of you). Everything else is secondary (but I would go with an SPB-3 if I had to choose).

+2

if you dont find black and yellow spandex, checkered will do nicely

Re: steve harris

MOST IMPORTANT!

Having Harris' equipment right is a SMALL step closer to SOUNDING like Harris .. . . STEVE is THE BEST BASSIST EVER! nobody writes, plays and rocks out quite like him . . . . nobody.

There I said it.
