What rig did Vai use on For the Love Of God on Passion and Warfare?

Did he use other rigs on the album as well?

Live he does it on a Bogner, no?

On the 96 (I think) G3 the, one with Eric Johnson, he's using a Bogner. Some awesome tone on that song too.

In the studio I have NOOOO idea.

Re: Steve Vai For The Love Of God

I have the Vai-authorized transcription book of PAW... in the equipment section he lists the main amps for the majority of the album being "any one of seven Marshall 100W tube heads, all modded by Jose Arrendondo." I also recall a magazine article from the era (I got a back copy ;) )saying he used his black seven-string, a TC2290 delay, a Crybaby, and a Urei compressor for that track.

You can find info on his live rig from the original G3 '96-'97 (and IMO a FINE performance of that track live) here: http://vai.com/Machines/livegear.html

Re: Steve Vai For The Love Of God

He was definitely using cranked Marshalls on that record. I recall discussion of an anniversery model. You can hear SOO much room sound on that track so you know it was CRANKED. Amazing track. My favorite from Vai...
