i am thinking about getting a strat neck from Stew-Mac. i just wanted to get some opinions about the quality if any of you know. thanks

Re: Stewart Mcdonald strat neck quality

I have one. Nice birdseye maple. Nice 60's profile. Very nice neck, IMO. A good value. Mine was made in Canada. Bruce has it now on a Strat I gave him to use in the shop at Mission Amps. People love it, he says, and keep trying to buy it off of him. Lew

Lew, I don't know when you got yours but the new Strat necks StewMac sells now are just MightyMite brand necks.

Aha...mine's not a Mighty Mite. :smack: It's a couple of years old.
Made in Canada, as I mentioned. Lew

Re: Stewart Mcdonald strat neck quality

Hey, those new mighty mite necks are pretty good. Not the "shape your own headstock" ones, but the ones licensed by Fender. I little on the small side, but bigger than the new Squires. The frets can use a little polishing up, but other than that, they're pretty good.

Re: Stewart Mcdonald strat neck quality

Oh, I did not say they were bad at all but you can get them on eBay for maybe 10 or 20 bucks cheaper than StewMac sells them for.

Re: Stewart Mcdonald strat neck quality

ive had my hands on a few and thought that they were ok, but i bet they were all atleast 3 years old. any idea when they switched?

Re: Stewart Mcdonald strat neck quality

Jeremy, I think they switch two years ago. Right about the time they started offering the correct headstock shapes on special order or something like that.

Re: Stewart Mcdonald strat neck quality

Glad to hear of the switch!---I was about to order one. I bought three of them about six years ago and they were great but if they have changed I'm going to look elsewhere. I really didn't enjoy dealing with the salespeople but now I don't have to!---thanks!----cheers!---JIMO

Re: Stewart Mcdonald strat neck quality

I have a old stew-mac neck from around 94' I loved it !! I loaned the
guitar to my bassist. He wouldn't give it back !! :yell: He offer me a
67'Melodymaker as a trade? I took the MM But I still wish I had that
Strat. It seems stewmac was busted by the headstock police a few
years ago ,And started offering paddle headstocks. Now I see there
selling LIC. headstocks So i guess they are Mighty mite? But if you can
find the old Canadian necks, Buy it !!
