Stiletto vs. Powerball

I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on either the Mesa Stiletto or the Engl Powerball. Unfortunately, I am having difficulty finding a way to demo the Engl. I would love to do an A/B comparison, but that's even more unlikely. I play rock primarily, but need an amp to be somewhat tonally versatile. Thanks for the help.

I'm using my buddies Stiletto Duece right now and I think it totally sucks. It just seems really weak in the gain department and the low end department. I've never gotten big into the Mesa sound but I was really disappointed with the Stiletto. I've reverted back to using my Spyder II combo through the cab because it just sounds better than that thing.
Basically, there's no low end, not enough gain(for my tastes) and the highs bite way too much even with the treble turned all the way down and the bass all the way up and the gain all the way these problems still exist.

The Stiletto is good for playing ****, ball-less, ice picky highs style music.

The Powerball is good for deathmetal.


I suggest you look elsewhere

Go to www.rocksolidamps.com they have quite a few different soundclips on the Powerball and the rest of the Engl range. Also, Framus amps & some others i cant think of right now. No Stiletto i'm afraid

I have never played the powerball. I have never been too impressed with the Stiletto. I much prefer a Dual Rec, as far as Mesa goes.
