Still looking for pups!! help!

Hey forumites,
I posted a thread a while ago trying to get some input on what to replace the stock HFS in the bridge of my PRS custom 24.
Needless to say, I haven't had much luck!

The custom 5 was too brittle and harsh sounding for me,
The alternative8's string pull killed my sustain
Currently i have in a Dimarzio Tone Zone, but its not hot enough. I want this thing to SCCCCCCCCCREAMM!. (without going active)

I want something with lots of harmonics and sustain, but it doesnt have to have an ULTRA-tight bass. i used to have a DD in a 7 string which had awesome note clarity, but it sounded kinda...well...lifeless to me.

PS, Bareknuckles are goign to destroy my wallet, so thats not an option at this point.

I heard things about Norton being like the JB without the honkiness.
Evo 2 doesnt' have great rhythm (i love that chugga-chug!)
Anyone had any luck with D-activators?

Thanks everyone!!

Re: Still looking for pups!! help!

Fairly high output, screams, plenty of harmonics, doesn't have really tight bass.... sounds like a JB to me.

Re: Still looking for pups!! help!

Full shred sound interesting...i heard that chords sound kind of thin tho??

Maybe I'll try a JB again...
....or jst give up and put blackouts in.

You've heard wrong...like all PuPs its how you set up your amp. I have a Full Shred in a Basswood Jackson, and it sounds huge thru my Engl. And if you want an even angrier and more screaming sound, throw an A8 mag in there...then run and hide for cover!

BUTTTTTTTT....

The Full Shred is a medium output PuP. The A8 mag will step it up a knotch.

Another thought...the PATB-3 is a little hotter than the FS...and has more bottom as well...you know, I think I would actually suggest that...or the PATB-1...which is a little looser on the bottom but (to me) has more pinch harmonic ability.

duncan distortion. it pretty much fits your description. i have it in my Ibanez SZ, and it is a similar guitar to yours. try it.
