STK-1 uneven sound

I have a JB-TB at the bridge and two classic stacks stk-1 at middle and neck. I love the JB but the stk-1s are thin sounding by comparison, but better when I crank up the amp and put some power thru them. My situation is, that not only would I prefer a thicker sound to match the JB, but also that the tone is uneaven thoughout all strings. The 1st and 2nd strings are much lower output, and the 3 & 4 ths are louder. This is, I assume, because the magnets are staggered. Has anyone ground down the magnets on a pup like this to equalize the tone output? Is this possible? Or is there another pup that would be recomended and still give the same quality or better more even tone?

I think the JB JR neck model or Little 59 neck model might be better for you.

They're stronger than the Stack you have and will probably match up with the JB Trembucker better. And you can adjust the polepieces with a screwdriver...not a grinder! :smack:

You can't grind down those magnetic polepieces without ruining them, BTW. Don't do it.

Sorry to get back to my thread so slow. Thanks for the imput, I'll consider this. One concern about the JB is that it lacks sizzle typically heard in strats. This promts me to rethink the entire pu scheme for the strat. I noticed that you are using Antiquities in your strat. Based upon what I have said in my post, do you think that antiquity might be the way to go instead of the JBs? (I do like the hum cancelling, but if its going to sacrifice sound quality maybe I could change my mind) Are antiquitys single coii? If so is there a way to fit the single coil inside a humbucker bezel - like is there an adapter cover available?

Strat - 2 classic stacks, JB TB - for hot country or hot-cool blues

Ibanez SZ solid body - Seth lovers n & b - for cool blues
