Stk-s1

Can anybody shed some info and specs on these pickups please.
How do they compare to other stacks in the Duncan range?

Cheers,
Will.

Re: Stk-s1

They're the original Classic Stack model. Basically a slightly-hotter-than-vintage Alnico 2 stack pickup. The new version, the Classic Stack Plus (STK-S4), replaced them (a redesign), but has a different voicing and is closer to the tone of an actual vintage Strat pickup. In power, they're roughly comparable to an SSL-1 or something like that. The STK-S1's are still used by Jackson quite a bit for the Soloist, Dinky, etc. from what I understand.

Thank you!
I'm completing a set of STK-S4's and contemplating purchasing a neck and
middle STK-S1, using an STK-S2 neck pickup as a bridge, about 10.5k.
I recently sold my 57 US RI Strat and I'm looking for that sound again.
Cheers, Will.

Re: Stk-s1

the old classic stack is alnico 2 and a cool, albeit not vintage sounding strat pup. more mids and less highs but still a cool tone for sure. output is comparible to a typical strat pup but the extra mids might push the amp more.

the new stk4 really does sound 95% like an old early 60's strat pup but with no hum. i have a set of the cs+ and i really like them. they are about the same volume as the ssl1 like hanuman said. the dc resistance is a little misleading cause its a stack, a 10.5k single coil with typical strat wire would be much hotter than the cs+
