Stk s1n

Hello, I am going to try this out in the neck position of an hss guitar. Never used one before. Is it worth auto coil tapping it for the 2nd position? I may install an extra switch some point. The middle pickup is RWRP budget single. Any thoughts?

Re: Stk s1n

welcome to the forum!

i use a trio of stacks in a strat and i dont split them. ive done it before and i didnt hear enough difference for me to bother wiring it up on this one

Re: Stk s1n

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the welcome! I will probably wire it straight just now then. Waiting on parts arriving to get started. I'm doing up a 93 Pacifica 112j for its birthday on the 22nd. Have had the frets done and its playing well. Got a new humbucker on the way. Still thinking about pot setup. A friend gave me this pickup so I thought I would try it.

Unsplit is OK, but just OK.

It sounds so sweet when split in the notch position with another split one.

Re: Stk s1n

Thanks for the reply dotsdad. I have my parts now and have made some more progress. I have managed to get the pickups and new covers mounted onto the pickguard after a bit of fiddling and am now ready to get wired up! I think I will split the stk s1n in the second position to get an idea of the effect. The middle pickup is RPRW to the neck. Not sure what to do with the humbucker. I am going to split it. It would appear that the screw coil is the same orientation as the mid pickup. If I want to try mixing either the slug or screw coil with the mid pickup am I correct in assuming that I only have to reverse the ground and hot on the humbucker to do this or would that affect the humbucker sound on its own unsplit?
I was originally thinking about doing 500k volume and 250k tone. After more researching I was wondering how a a 250k volume and a modified to no-load 500k tone might work out? I have a .022 cap to go with it. Again, not wanting to go down the road of resistors and extra switching with this project at the moment.
Looking good so far though, have got a gold cover on the humbucker and some gold covers on the singles :)

Re: Stk s1n

Phase 2 done. Guitar wiring replaced. 500k audio taper volume and 250k linear tone that I have modified to be no load at full. Couple of problems to fix. Need to re wire the wires to the stk. They are not long enough. I tried to extend them but ran into problems. Going to try and put a new set on it tonight. Also need to settle on humbucker coil tap setup. Nearly there :)

Re wired the Stk with an old phono cable. Stk and humbucker spilt at 2 and 4. Sounds really promising through the tiny test amp that I have been using. Proper sound trial later. Here's a pic.
