Re: STK-S4 mounting in wood
had something similar when I went to mount a few STK-S4s in the neck positions of some ESPs. I just had some spare wood-mounting screws that worked. it wasn't as if they fit the threading perfect, they just fit inside there and I let the springs and/or rubber tubing give the upward resistance. if you have some spare screws that will work, go for it. if they are smaller to the point that they won't engage the thread in the existing holes in the guitar, you can do something like break off a toothpick to the desired depth and it'll fill the gap so you can screw that new screw right in (that's also a good trick in general for many of the screw holes around a guitar).
what you might can do is go to Home Depot and see if they might have something there that might work. not certain, but you never know. sometimes, if you find the right person there and tell them what you're trying to do, you might find someone that can help you work through a roadblock with a project like that.
OR... you can figure out the proper thread pitch for the Duncan and see if you can find some inserts.
whatever way you go, be 110% sure that you do not get screws that are too long, as I have seen guys that don't pay attention and screw right out through the back of their guitars.
if you have the time, another option would be to wait until Monday, call SD cust serv and see if they have some exact specs on what you're needing so that you don't wast a lot of your valuable time and your expensive gas driving around for options.
