Stock neck PU "louder" than SLB???

I have a 78 LPS that I put a Seth Lover in the bridge a few years back, but still have the stock (490?) pickup in the neck. For some reason the stock pickup seems to have more presence (louder) than the Seth in the bridge. The stock pickup sounds pretty good, especially when played clean, but in the middle position it over powers the SLB. Is this normal? Anything I might need to look at (wiring/installation) if it isn't?

The 490R is IIRC somewhat hotter than most PAF clones... lowering the Neck pickup will likely be the solution ;)

Lower neck or raise bridge. IIRC, the brigde has room to go higher.

Thanks Zerberus. I don't have the guitar here, but I have it (the neck pu) down even with the pu ring. I guess I will either have to live with it or change it out. Thinking about maybe going with a Custom in the bridge and seeing how the SLB works in the neck. Might work out, might not. Anything else I might try before going this route, such as different cap on the neck pu side?

Raise the Seth and lower the neck. It's OK to go a bit lower than the ring. I have a PGn in the neck of my LP that has a resistance of 7.5k and its below the mounting ring. Not a whole lot, but you can tell if you look closely.
