Stock pickups in MIJ Charvel Surfcaster?

Hi Y'All,

I play an '89 Gibson LP standard through a Mesa V-Twin (high-ish gain on blues channel, stock tubes) into a late '70s Marshall JMP Master Volume 100W head. It's a pretty full on metal/punk sound without losing too much detail.

For stage/vanity puposes, and the fact that it was cheap, I splashed out on a used surfcaster (1 x stock lipstick, 1 x Jackson branded bridge humbucker). Was this an SD designed product? If so, what current pickup could I compare it to? If I'm wrong, or you think there's a better SD p/u that might get me a thick-ish Gibson/Marshall replica sound in a surfcaster (I know, I know...ambitious), the please go ahead and recommend it!

No. All of the USA Jackson PUs were wound and designed in house, and the later import PUS are still afaik J/C designed. BTW Lipstick and one Hum sounds more like an OC-1 Outcaster to me than a "real" surfcaster..

(assuming you mean the humbucker) Duncan Custom

Thanks Zerb, I'll search the fora for Duncan Customs. The guitar looks like the more recent Jackson SC-1, but it is Charvel branded.
