STOLEN (edit: RETURNED!): Mark Holcomb's 7 string PRS

People who steal guitars suck. Being that Mark Holcomb is an SD guy, I copied and pasted this from another forum:

On March 30 I had a guitar stolen in Austin, Texas. It is a PRS Private Stock 7-string, bearing close resemblance to my other Maryland-made signature PRSs, with the main difference being that the color on this is Frostbite Glow. Some other specs are the Seymour Duncan Alpha/Omega pickup set, 26.5" scale length, ebony fretboard, satin neck, hipshot hardware, etc. The serial number on it is 18 250809.
It's a very tough guitar to miss given it's extreme rarity, so if you or anyone you know happens to spot one online, in-person, or even hear someone talking about a random Maryland-made PRS 7 string - please contact the police or feel free to get a hold of me at mark.holcomb82@gmail.com. Thanks everyone!

That's terrible. I hope he gets his guitar back. I don't understand why people steal one-of-a-kind stuff like this. It's not like one can fence it easily. And it's not like one can exactly be seen on stage playing an artist's one-of-a-kind guitar.

Well, people that steal stuff generally aren't the brightest bulbs in the box. Though there are some people who will pay to have unique stuff in their collection even if they know that no one else will see it. However dealing with those sorts of folks can be challenging as they tend to cover their tracks quite well and don't leave loose ends. But that returns us to my initial statement.

There are some databases online but one of the mfgs should make this their cause so we could look up every deal that's too good to be true... if no one will buy them then maybe no one will steal them.

Once again, people that steal things aren't the brightest bulbs in the box.
Even the ones that are clever enough to "get away with it".

Wishful thinking... Wishing people would respect each other, play nice and stealing would go away...note that my signature is 'What's so funny a bout peace love and understanding'... I live in a dream world;)

Speaking of stealing high-end PRS guitars, this is from one of my local stores:

Re: STOLEN: Mark Holcomb's 7 string PRS

Steve Morse's classical guitar was stolen on the recent Dixie Dregs tour, but with him blasting it all over the internet, it was eventually returned in a few weeks. Hopefully this will be the case here.

I agree that people who steal guitars are not the brightest on this blue planet we live on.

There's a guy at the local antique store that sells broken project guitars for hella money. Every time I go in there I wonder about reenacting Johnny Cash's "One Piece At A Time", but then I remember that I'm better than that. But still, it would be a neat idea if it weren't morally wrong.

If you think of every single problem in this world, they all boil down to the same thing: GREED

Says something for law enforcement. 20% are caught.

That's because even the dumbest of people are smart enough to be decent thieves. It's fairly simple to not get caught: no 1 look = pic up thing.

Close. You left out the most important qualifier: "for the unearned".

Apparently this guitar was found and returned to him. There was a story this week on Facebook (with video) detailing the return.
