Stoner Rock / heavy rock pedalboard thread

Re: Stoner Rock / heavy rock pedalboard thread

That Traynor cab is too small for stoner/doom music. You need something that a single person could never hope to lift on their own or is so obscenely large that it will slaughter the first three rows and lay waste to panties everywhere by virtue of its size alone.

Hahaha

It's loaded with Greenbacks too. I like 2x12s even if it looks small Its a loud mofo!

Would be nice to evaporate girls clothes in front of the stage with pure 8x12 stack power though. Hell all I need is an Ampeg vt-22 cranked to do that

Love that Pharaoh fuzz ! Everytime I hear one whether it be online or on someone elses board I love it!

Also what amp head is that ?

SirJack was spot on, its a Peavey Triple X with a different front grill. The Pharaoh is a game changer and so much fun to play, its always on unless Im getting a clean sound.

LOVE THAT AMP !

Re: Stoner Rock / heavy rock pedalboard thread

I play hard rock and heavy blues and I'm prone to a few stonerish riffs occasionally.

Here's my pedalboard, or at least what I'm trying to fit into it.

Nice another Ultimate Octave user ... I used to use a fat boost too but stupidly sold it

Re: Stoner Rock / heavy rock pedalboard thread

mmm . . . this is new !

I've had it for a few years but I don't talk about it much because I could never figure out how to work it into my sound. I'd tinker with it for awhile, find a few things that made me go "Yeah, that's cool", then I'd put it away again for a 4-6 months.

This time around I've been getting more creative with the delays, some of which is difficult to replicate with pedals, so I think it's finally found its niche in my setup. The 2290 Dynamic Delay stuff in particular has me sold on it.

I've also been trying to use it for more trippy stuff but distortion running into digital swirly effects sounds like sh*t so I added a real vibe and Phase 90 to the front end.

In short it has it's flaws but I'm growing to really like it.

This is the 2nd Ultimate Octave I've owned. TGWIF owns the first one. It's just one of those disgustingly nasty but cool tones you need every now and then.

I used to use an OCD for the boost, but the FatBoost works better for what I'm trying to do. I've been contemplating getting an EP boost but I need to try it again with the bright switch off this time.

Until I can afford a Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe, the Hardwire will work for trem and Univibe stuff, and it's pretty good for what it does.

I'd love to get a Whammy V. You like yours?

Re: Stoner Rock / heavy rock pedalboard thread

Just got the Timeline today. I messed with it briefly while my brother was playing bass through it and it's got a hell of a lot of really awesome tones in it. I've got a few pedals (Sunface and Drybell Vibe Machine) on loan to a forum bro, so once I get those back I'm stepping back up to a PT-1. I plan on getting a Strymon Mobius in January, and after that I need a reverb, a dirt or two, and a Tonebender clone of some sort and I should be good. I've also got a Timmy for solo boosts.

Could not agree more about the Ultimate Octave

I had that Hardwire too and loved the bias trem setting and the vibe actually. Alotta stuff packed into that one pedal.

I love the Whammy V, I use mine mostly for downtuning to D or C with the 2nd and 4th down whammy modes (I place the tuner after the whammy so I can pin point my tuning with the treadle) and I LOVE the octave down/up harmony mode. I would never get rid of it since it has so many uses, you would love it I'm sure but they are kinda pricey

Nice!! I got a feeling a Tonebender clone plus the timmy stacked would sound great.

Definitely. I had a Scarab Deluxe for a while and it played really nicely with the Timmy. I'm probably going to get another one, I have a love affair with Basic Audio.

Re: Stoner Rock / heavy rock pedalboard thread

Never tried a BA pedal before but have been interested in the scarab for awhile. Maybe next year when I have money again I might try one.

I'm kinda set on dirt once I get my MI audio super crunch box for xmas from my brother. That way I will have a tight distortion and a loose fuzz (Fulltone Ultimate Octave) but I think I could squeeze a Scarab in there ;)

Here's mine -

Don't use the tremolo much though it's a good pedal. The MXR Distortion III is for situations where I might have to play through an amp with no preamp overdrive.
