Storing pups n parts?

I am setting up a music room.. Still cant believe it.. Anyhow, Im tying to organize my stuff in there and have parts and pickups that Im trying to figure out the best way to organize. I have a foot locker that I will probably put my pickups in and hopefully will also have enough room for my cleaners and tools.. Most of my pickups are in plastic cases that new ones come in. Some, I dont have cases for. Anyone have a suggestion for what to put those in? I did buy these little cases on ebay with latches and they fit 2 buckers in just right. What can I put between them? Id think cardboard, but I have magnets wrapped in cardboard that still stick together...

Now, as far as parts... I have little plastic cases with compartments ( for organizing screws and such) that I have parts in, (screws, switch tips, etc) I just need to figure some thing to put parts in that came off of guitars. (I like to keep parts from guitars together. Like strap buttons, stock trem blocks etc..
The biggest question with parts is how to store magnets??

And lastly, anyone discovered a good replacement type box for pedals?? And power cords?? I have boxes for many of my pedals, and have had the non boxed ones in a big plastic storage bin that I could lay them all out side to side in.
Due to space restrictions, I need to be able to stack em up. Dont want to pile them if they arent in boxes.

(Yes, Im alil particular with my gear.. Like to keep it in tip top shape)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.. Thank you!

Re: Storing pups n parts?

I keep loose pickups (bubble wrapped) in the long flat clear plastic boxes with movable partitions, and boxed pickups in metal ammo cases. Not ideal since you can't see into them, but I've been using surplus 50 cal ammo boxes for nearly fifty years now. There always seemed to be one handy; used to carry my pedals and cables around in one when I was just starting.

I use plastic storage bins that are labeled, and in all sizes. I can find things quickly and store them neatly.

I also use plastic storage bins. But they aren't labeled, and I can't find s**t! My bad.

Re: Storing pups n parts?

I wouldn't store magnets or loose pickups with anything other than 1/4" plate anodized non magnetic aluminum between them.

Alternatively and less expensively, I keep the loose and boxed pickups in a medium sized Oakley bag, but stored in a cool, dry space.

Re: Storing pups n parts?

My spare pickup storage. I can pretty much tell what's what in the three boxes with clear tops. I might get another of the long ones with the yellow handles; they're the perfect size and are only a couple of bucks at Harbor Freight. There's a second green ammo box, too, not in this pic. Both full of pickups in the factory jewel cases.

As for magnets, I keep them in a big manila envelope. Each grade is sticking together in a stack- you don't need to worry about degaussing unless they're repelling each other- and each stack is bubble wrapped so it doesn't get too close to any other. I do keep the A8s separate from the lesser alnicos because they're pretty strong. And If I had a number of ceramics I'd keep them separate too. Only have one of those; it's on the refrigerator door.

EDIT: I don't know why the pics are rotated sideways again. That was always so annoying and I thought it had long since been corrected. Now it's back.

Get some of those small plastic containers that are used for holding bars of soap. They fit a set of humbuckers perfectly.

prolly a tiny bit big, but a great idea none the less!! I only have a few with no stock boxes. Thanks!

Eclecticsynergy, Ill check Harbor Freight . most of the divided boxes I find are for screws and such and the compartments are way too small...
