Stra-Bro 90 Wiring Configuration

Hello all, I am having trouble finding wiring information for the Stra-Bro 90 pickup, as in what wire is what?

There is a BLACK, WHITE, RED and COPPER (ground?) wire?

This is a coil-tapped pickup.

There is not a wiring configuration posted on the otherwise excellent online diagrams; it does not come up as an option.

Looking for what each one of those is. I don't have a multimeter.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I tried calling customer service but only was able to leave a message.

welcome to the forum!

copper goes to ground, its the drain for the base plate. black should be ground. the red and white should be the two hot outputs. one is the tap, the other is full output. id guess white is full and red is tap but i cant confirm that without pulling a guitar apart

OK, so I'm still kind of new to wiring, and this is my layout - 3 pos switch, 1 vol and 1 tone.

Where would I put where? I was using this diagram because again, I couldn't find one with a Stra-Bro. I'm not familiar with the "DRAIN" for base plate and where I would put that? I am getting a push-pull vol knob, but until it gets here, I'll just use the full as soon as I figure out which is which.

I appreciate your help!!

Re: Stra-Bro 90 Wiring Configuration

the drain gets soldered to the back of a pot with the black wire. the whites would go to the switch where the blacks connect in this diagram.

you have a gibson style three way i assume from that diagram

Re: Stra-Bro 90 Wiring Configuration

OK Jeremy, you were totally right about the wires, and I got 'er wired up and working. That Stra-Bro 90 is brutal.

Thanks to all who helped!

I am not using the coil-tapping feature yet; I have a push-pull knob coming and will install that when I get it. But I know where everything goes now.

I appreciate it very much!!!! :friday:

glad you get er up and runnin! cool pups for sure. where did you put the rod magnet poles, wound or unwound strings?

Re: Stra-Bro 90 Wiring Configuration

Magnet poles are just all flush right now, I'm not sure how to adjust but the way it sounds it is great. I'm using wound strings. 11's.

Are the poles adjustable? I heard someone allude to this.

This pup has a 14.8 output!!!

three of the poles are alnico 5 rod magnets, the other three are adjustable screws with a small ceramic bar on each side of the screws. the original intention was to have the rod magnets under the wound strings and the screws under the plain strings but in the video on the product page its isntalled reverse of that.

I love Seymour Duncan, but I don't know how you're supposed to know this. I got nothing with my pickups regarding any of this and it's not on the page about Stra-Bro 90's, either.

How did you know about this?

Re: Stra-Bro 90 Wiring Configuration

cause we helped design the pup on the forum years ago :) there is no right or wrong but it will sound different depending on which way you install them. ive only ever put them with the rod magnets under the wound strings, might sound great the other way too
