Its a new millenium gentlemen. Having a Strat doesn't necessarily mean having singles. ;)
Last I checked, Fat Strats still had singles... :p

...and I don't "get" Double Fat Strats.

I just meant . . . my SSS Strat has three humbuckers in it. ;)

And I love it.

Edit: (The middle sc-sized PG, on loan from theodie.)

Edit 2: Who may not get it back. :laugh2:

Re: Stranded on a desert Island, Strat or LP?

Fender Strat with a Twangbanger in the bridge and SSl-1's in the neck & middle.

Re: Stranded on a desert Island, Strat or LP?

You would be better off with a set of drums. This would keep the natives happy. Happy natives = no eat you :13:

sure did. dont like the sound of hums in a strat, and i dont like the sound of SC's period so ill stick w/ the LP * shivers *

Re: Stranded on a desert Island, Strat or LP?

RR1 Rhoads with a Dimebucker in the bridge and... umm... jazz in the neck... and.... some kinda marshall

Re: Stranded on a desert Island, Strat or LP?

o sry the RR1 sure aint a strat or lp.... but i think id take a lp

Re: Stranded on a desert Island, Strat or LP?

ill take a LP 57' goldtop and a laptop and pod XT for an "amp", so i could spend my time playing it while waiting for someone to purchase it off ebay and come to the desert island to collect it

Re: Stranded on a desert Island, Strat or LP?

Les Paul, bro! Fitted with, oh.. Dimebucker/Jazz, PG-1/'59, or an 81/85. No effects, except for some kind of OD pedal, and kick it through a Traynor YCV-80 into a Traynor 2x12 cab, and crank that bitch to 11, man!

Re: Stranded on a desert Island, Strat or LP?

I'd bring my Grosh Bent Top Custom. With a 5-way switch, p90 bridge and two single coils, I can get a wide variety of great tones. Single coils may not be for everyone, but I prefer the clarity. I can't stand regular single coils for the bridge because they don't cut through like I'd like and I could never get them to handle distortion, so the p90 has been the thing that works best for me.

Re: Stranded on a desert Island, Strat or LP?

He said there be electricity, he also said there be fat (humbucker in bridge) strats allowed.

So hence my vote.

Strat

Cant stand the LP necks

Now that's funny! :laugh2:

But back to the question at hand, there's some stuff that the LP can do that the Strat will never be able to do. But there are many, many ,many more things an HSS Strat can do that an LP will never be able to do in a bajillion years. And even if the LP could do it you wouldn't be comfortable playing it in the hot sun under the palm trees. And if by some stretch you actually were comfortable playing the LP in the hot sun of the desert island, the glue that holds together the set neck would start to separate making you envious of the cool, comfortable guy sitting next to you with the HSS Strat and contoured bolt-on neck who is being fanned with giant palm fronds by the beautiful native girls. ;)

Mmmm...native girls.
