Strange error in my wiring? or did i ruin a pickup

I recently pulled a seymour duncan fullshred (bridge) out of a disfunctioning (broken jack) jackson and put it in my other Jackson (A Kelly Std.) It had stock jackson pickups which sounded pretty good and sustained quite a while. So i replaced that with the fullshred hoping it would improve the sound to near perfection.. when in fact it made it worse. there is almost no sustain or crunch.. hell it almost sounds clean unless i really crank the distortion. with max distortion on my amp it is still quite clean. what the hell did i do wrong? the wiring LOOKS right..
by the way, when I used the fullshred in the other jackson, it sounded wonderful. this is quite different :|

Is it possible that you've accidently wired it "split"? That would make it clean and weaker.

How would such a thing happen? I wired it exactly like I did before..

The black wire is soldered onto the switch..

The green and bare ones are soldered onto the ground inside the guitar,

and the white and red wires, i snipped the wire off so its just tubing and taped them together .

Anything there look wrong to you guys?

thx in advance

alright.. no responses..

well anyway I just thought I would add that i Just installed the neck pickup in the exact same fashion (black wire to switch, red\white taped togehter, green\bare to ground) and the neck pickup works fine. still 1\10th of the proper output coming from the bridge though! it sounds crystal clean in situations where the neck is pure dirt :|

Did I fry my switch? or the pickup?

well the red and white wires should be soldered together and then insulated.
i hope thats what you ment.

try wiring the pickup straight to the jack is it any better?
you might have a dirty pickup selector switch or a bad solder joint.

That ... that might be the problem. Instead of soldering white and red together, I simply snipped threm so no wire was showing and taped that together. I was pretty sure that's what I did on the neck pickup too(but that was 6 months ago so i'm probably wrong)

I'll try that and see if it fixes it. thanks!
