Strange experience with 5150 last night

Hails Guys...
i went to a friend of mine home made studio
pretty crap, very small place.
only 4 people will fit the place, and VERY tight...
i wanted to test the 5150 AGAIN but with more output
when i hit the pre gain on 6 and the post gain on 4, almost going to 5 ... ig gave me a little glassier than the usual tone.. and kinda distorting (lead channel) the signal...
don´t know if it was because of the room, or if there´s something wrong with the amp Or the cabinet.
cabinet is a 4x12 marshall 1960.
my guess is that it was the room.. bu ti suspect it can be the amp, or the cabinet...
don´t know
i´m worry about it now.
any clues^?

What kind of speakers are in the cab? Have you ever cranked it that much before?

The room just like certain woods in a guitar, vibrate and what not and will affect your overall sound that you are hearing. Does it sound like it should outside of the room?

i didn´t play it outside the room(s) YET!
too mcuh output.
i have a friend that works in a ginasium... i´ll try to ask him if i could use it for 1 hour of playiong and test it.

why dont you just crank it outside your house ?? imo 5150 sound like sh1t i just sold mine i had the combo version !!!

Sometimes, the louder you crank an amp, the less gain you actually need.
Maybe you should put the master up to 5 and back the gain down to 4 1/2.

Maybe the power tubes were starting to break up? Usually when you push the power tubes more, you get a glassy, more compressed tone.
