Strange issue after installing a new JB, help!

Greetings everyone! I've got an issue after I installed a brand new JB in the bridge of my guitar. After double checking the wiring and looking over the diagram in the box and seeing the website has the same picture, I'm at a loss...

It's H-H, 3 way, 2 vol pots, and 1 tone pot, no split.

-With the 3way set to bridge: bridge vol works great
-3 way set to neck: neck vol doesn't work at all

*3 way set to middle: bridge vol works great, but the neck vol makes or breaks all volume from the guitar.

-As soon as I turn the neck vol less than 1, but more than 0, it cuts off all volume.
-from 1-7, the volume gets louder.
-from 7-9, it starts getting quieter.
-Slighty above 9 to 10, cuts off all volume.

I traded for this guitar and the original owner told me that he tried putting in an SH6 and had the exact same issue. He put the stock pup back in and the neck volume pot returned to normal.

The neck pup only has two wires. One goes to the neck vol lead and one for ground. I triple checked how I connected the JB as well.

Any ideas what in blazes is going on?? Any help highly appreciated!

It sounds like a classic case of overheating the pot case while trying to solder to it. The internal plastic disc that holds the "wiper" has warped out of shape. Replace the pot. ;)

And, welcome to the forum.

thanks artie x2! :D

When I was installing it, I did see that the previous owner had made a mess so that's gotta be it right there.

Even though when the previous owner re-installed the originial pup and said everything worked fine?

Yep. Once he took out the SH6 and put the stock pup back in, he said it worked fine like nothing ever happened. Strange huh??

hmm. well, I'll just wait to replace the stock neck with a 59 and if it still acts the same, I'll get a new neck pot.
