Strat 5-way switch positions.

I've seen many threads where someone describes the #1 position as the bridge pup alone, #2 bridge/middle, #3 middle etc...
I have always described the positions the opposite way, #1 = neck, #2 =neck/middle......#5 = bridge. I suppose you could wire it any way you want, but what would you say is the "standard"?

Peace,

I think of it the way you do!

1. neck
2. neck/middle
3. middle
4. middle/bridge
5. bridge

I always thought this also..... But we were both wrong!

Doesn't surprise me. I have to wait for the rest of the world to catch up and get it right when it comes to most things.....but eventually they come around. :laugh2:

I hear ya ...
the "official, correct" way is bridge #1 :(

:smack: :yell: No ,G!!! Say it ain't so. I don't think I'll be able to adapt to this way of thinking. I don't care for change in the first place, so this is gonna send me over the edge. :burnout: ahhhhhhhhhhhh............

Re: Strat 5-way switch positions.

We had this discussion in the old forum, but I think it got lost. Its always bugged me also, that the bridge is #1.

So . . . let me put a motion on the table. I say, we of the SD forum, henceforth call the neck #1, and proclaim Fender to be incorrect.

Anyone second that motion? :laugh2:

Think how much fun it will be to go over to the Fender forum and point out all the "typo's" on Fenders website. :laugh2:

Re: Strat 5-way switch positions.

Maybe some crazy lefty named the positions since bridge would be #1 reading left to right.

I've always thought of the bridge as one, though. Guess it's something I just accepted.
