Strat Antiquity Custom bridge

Curly

Moe's Bluesman
In another post, I compared strat APS-2s and Antiquity Strat pickups.

kmc asked me "Do you have any clips of Bridge Ant's ??"

so, here's a page with just the strat Antiquity Custom bridge:
http://www.bluestheater.net/strat-ant-bridge.html

again, thanks to all for your kind comments regarding my clips ... I think I have a good idea of where I stand among the many fine players on the forum, nonetheless I've received a lot of encouragement for my humble blues ramblings ...

still, I offer clips in the hope that "one clip is worth a thousand words"

much peace

Re: Strat Antiquity Custom bridge

Thanks Curly :D I think that's the sound I'm looking for in a Bridge PuP.
Bright and Chimey, But not thin. Fat and full, Without being dark.
I'm Sold !! Thanks so much for the clips. :)

Re: Strat Antiquity Custom bridge

kmc,
you're welcome!

the SD-1 I used for the lead clips is actually a bit dark, but adds a lot of harmonics and fatness

I hoped that by using distortion and OD, as well as clean playing, you could get an idea of the tones that players might use in a 'real world' setting

OH YEAH ! Your clips where perfect :D Gave me a good taste of how the
Ant's sound. My tone is very simiular to the tone you where getting.
I don't know if you got my PM ( I was hav'in
Internet problems and had to fire it off B4 I was finished typing??)
But your clips showed you can get good Blues tone from a bridge PuP !
I normally only use the bridge PuP in a Strat for a Country style tone
or funky R&B. But getting a sweet singing Blues tone has always been
a tall order  Thanks again !! ( I got ant. gas now :laugh2: )

Re: Strat Antiquity Custom bridge

haha, kmc
I rarely use the bridge only position, so those clips were actually a bit of a challenge for me tone wise! Actually, I rarely if ever used the 1 & 2 spots on a strat until coming to the forum, but I've learned to open up my tonal palette ... I've said before that I don't know if it's just me or not, but I like playing crunchy chords with OD or distortion on the bridge, and I like the fatter tone of the neck for leads

I'm using an SSL-3 bridge with my APS strat, and I love that pickup, but I want to test a Twangbanger in there because it might balance a little better with the output of the APSs.
the SSL-3 is a fat bridge pickup with lots of sustain and output that rivals a humbucker - it's a nice twist for something different than a vintage strat tone, and I find the 1 & 2 spots lots of fun.

I think I kind of understand your dilemma, though .... If I were to suggest a production pickup I'd like to see, it would be a strat bridge in alnico 2 and alnico 5 wound to about 9-10K like the Antiquity bridge pickups. That just seems to give such a great calibrated set.
