Strat bridge pickup upgrade! (Versatility)

Hi!
What would you recommend for a crisp legato sound Ala Satriani? I have two Ssl1's in the neck and middle position. So I'm searching for a moderate output bridge. Single coil sized humbuckers are accepted as my strat is my jack of all trades. Also recommend me pickup sets for a versatile strat.
Thanks!

You definitely want a either a humbucker or YJM Fury for that. A traditional single coil just won't cut the mustard. The YJM would be my first choice for fluid legato runs, but DMZ offers plenty of single coil sized HBs. Just go to their Joe Satriani page and it'll show you the pickups that he uses.

The YJM bridge is a noiseless single coil that comes in at about 25.5k. This is a case where that doesn't equate to output, but they are definitely hot pickups. Think somewhere between a single coil and a humbucker. I can't remember the exact tonal nuances of them, mine are currently being run through a Blackout Preamp, but I can tell you they have a pretty rounded top end and a mid hump. I'd definitely consider it for what you are looking for.

I'd almost think you need a mid-heavy pickup like the Custom Custom for that. It would give you a little compression, too. There are higher output pickups that might help with legato playing, but I don't think the EQ is quite right.
