Strat Bridge Pickups

Since I figured out that strat bridge pickups are not trem spaced I have been struggling. I loved the strat before and love it now.

It just seems wrong that the strat bridge pickup is not spaced for the strings at the bridge position. I'm sure that I'll get over it...with time;)

Amazing, isn't it? An 51-year-old design, and still the best one. :cool3:

Re: Strat Bridge Pickups

Strat pickups ARE tremspaced. It's standard Gibson style pickups that are not tremspaced. Trembucker pickups are spaced to match Fender spacing, but Strat single coils (Fender, Duncan, Fralin, whatever!) are already Fender/Trem spaced. They don't need to be any wider...

Lew,

It bothers Todd that the poles on the bridge pickups of his Strat do not line up as well as the neck and middle...

Re: Strat Bridge Pickups

Or, you can get a "rail" style pup. My current favorite Strat bridge is the Cool Rails. Sounds to me like what a Strat bridge should sound like, and string alignment is perfect. :laugh2:

That's right. The E A are perfectly centered. The D and G are little off center. the B E strings just catch the edge of the poles. But They must be close enough to the magnetic field that it still works fine. A Stat pickup with Tele bridge pup length would seem to be the perfect. But apparently the neck middle bridge pickups are intended to be interchangeable? I'm not sure why all three need to be interchangeable.

My current bridge pickup really sounds great. It's not so much a tone problem. Just more of a perceived "this doesn't seem right" observation. :)

I *love* the sound of the cool rails, but it didn't mix well with the single coils (they were the Fender Tex-mex pickups) that I had in the middle and neck positions. It was too hot IMHO. If I had vintage rails in the neck and middle it may have worked better. YMMV

Re: Strat Bridge Pickups

weird, my twangbanger lines up perfectly, and my neck pickup is a little off.....lol, oh well

oh, and im young, but the strat is kick a$$ in every facet....
