Strat guys, best pedal for violin like sustain?

Re: Strat guys, best pedal for violin like sustain?

That's easy to answer: He's David Gilmour, and his pedalboard is designed by Pete Cornish. Plus, no doubt David and Pete -- as well as at least a dozen top-shelf techs -- have gone through every square inch of circuitry between his pick and the grill in front of the PA speakers.

i contacted Pete Cornish a year ago about making me some things and he said he was booked for 2 years... and the cost would be killer.... still some great work he does

The best way for me is volume combined with a big muff and a compressor. It just works, specially with my emg's.

Diamond pedals make a great Comp for leads... it's one of the few Comp's i could see me using... when i saw the demo at a store it worked great with very little squish... you could just hardly hear it was on but the sustian was noticable

cornish p-2 boosted by an ss-3, or chandler tube driver.

even trey from phish used the same two screamer setup. it works really well.

And unless somethings changed in the last few weeks he's still using a pair of TS9's... also with a compressor and a full hollowbody w/duncan '59s. Not very "strat" like in the least!

When I hear "Strat" and "violin tone" in the same sentence I automatically think of Eric Johnson... Part of trick is volume. Then finger control... followed by the overall tone and esp. the top end... smooth, not jangly. Big part of the trick is having the right guitar. Some will sing on their own... unplugged. Some strats sound scratchy & broken with tonality & sustain equal to a banjo. If you've got one of those then no pedal or blinky black box will save you.

Those of you with true strat single coils, what's the best way to get that fat singing sustain? Fuzzface, Big Muff?

You will think I'm NUTS -- here but I can assure you it WORKS---. Try THIS Boss MT-2 + Monti Allums Sustaina mod!!! Think a Boogie in a BOX this will KILL anything else I have tried pedal wise for sweet singing sustain. I sold mine because the uber high gain crunch channels of my Prosonics are all I need. This is the absolute closest thing in a pedal you will EVER play through to my Prosonics it's AMAZING!!!
