Re: Strat Guys... Tremlo spring cover or no?

All of mine are off, 'cept for the 57RI, which I think makes it look alot nicer. As soon as I can figure out a way to relic a thick poly finish and make it look alright, then the cover will come off and the body will match the neck. Which is very nicely relic'd :D

i remember reading in a magazine somewhere that hendrix would take the cover off so that he could play around with the springs for some weird sounds like the crazy gunshot sounds at the end of machine gun. if you don't know the song, check it out right now!

Yeah, I've read that too.

Re: Strat Guys... Tremlo spring cover or no?

I left the cover off my MIA Texas fat strat, cuz the ball end of strings sometimes get caught in the trem block, when the string breaks at the bridge. It was just easier to get the broken piece out the trem block with the cover off.

I do leave the cover on my Robin medley, cuz the bridge is a Floyd type, so the strings don't go thru the trem block.

I lieave mine on... if not my scrotum will get caught in it.

On. Cleaning 15 years of gunk out of a customer´s axe was enough for me, don´t need the same thing on any of my axes ;)

Re: Strat Guys... Tremlo spring cover or no?

i leave it on its really annoying where you are playing sitting down or in a wierd position and push on the springs and everything goes out of tune

Re: Strat Guys... Tremlo spring cover or no?

I don't use the trem (never got the hang of it). So I take the cover off, put five springs in there and tighten the screws 'til the bridge sits flat against the body. Then if the string holes line up, I put it back on. If they don't, I don't. And of course my Hardtails don't have the cover.

I do remember seeing Hendrix's Strats without 'em. Hey, if it's good enough for Jimi, it's good enough for me!

Re: Strat Guys... Tremlo spring cover or no?

i'm gonna start leaving mine off in future, changing strings scratches the darn plate when you pull it through..

plus, i like seeing the wood. down with plastic! :D

Re: Strat Guys... Tremlo spring cover or no?

while i dont play a strat, i do have a trem guitar (the godin). I had it on for awhile, and got sick of having to thread everything through when restringing, so its been off recently. It's just easier

Re: Strat Guys... Tremlo spring cover or no?

I've heard that when it's off, the sustain is beeter.. Dunno if it's true or not
