Strat: Hardtail vs Vintage Trem - TONAL DIFFERENCES

Re: Strat: Hardtail vs Vintage Trem - TONAL DIFFERENCES

My hardtail sounds a lot thicker than my tremelo-equipped Strat...more wood means more resonance i guess. it has a fatter neck too so that might have something to do with it...

Re: Strat: Hardtail vs Vintage Trem - TONAL DIFFERENCES

The few hardtails I have tried are a little more "poppy" on the string attack, but dont sustain as well as a trem model. I also think the springs in the back add a bit of reverb-like resonance. I would pick the trem model and if you dont use it you can block it like Clapton or Gallagher.

I dont use the trem on mine, and have it tightend all the way down. But I still prefer the sound of a strat with a trem before a hardtail. Sounds more vibrant to me.
