Strat + Marshall, help with pickups for better tone.

I own a mexican made strat (S-S-S) and a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100. I am looking for noiseless humbucker pickups in H-S-H configuration for my guitar which would enable me to get rid of the annoying hum and will enable me to get a sound much like 80s Accept, Iommi, Glenn Tipton, Victor Griffin, Michael Schenker and Mark Shelton etc. Please help me with some suggestions.

Just went back and listened to some Iommi and Tipton. The pickups that come to mind for me is a Dimarzio Super Distortion Set. I know Tipton may have played EMGs on stage, but I would bet that choice was for volume, not tone.

Iommi: SG with medium hot pickups.
Tipton: maple body+neck+board, emg's
Griffin: never heard of
Schenker: Flying V, mahogany, with TTops or the Custom, depending on the era.

In short, it's hard to find one guitar to sound exactly like those guys.

that being said, if you want a versatile guitar that will bring you in that tonal region, I'd go with the Alternative 8 in the bridge. That gives you the attack and tightness for Iommi+tipton, but the thick, chewy leads of Schenker. If you wish more 'grind', more attack, I'd go with the Nazgul. For the neck pickup: sentient. great pickup for any style, perhaps the best neck humbucker I've heard so far. For the middle pickup: SSL1 is great, especially if you add an auto-coilsplit for the humbuckers when you're in the 2nd and 4th position.

The JB bridge will give you a kick @$$ 80s hair band sound.

I found the 59 neck a bit muddy in my Mexi Strat...Jazz neck sounds better to me.

Are you ever going to use the middle pickup b
Y itself?

JB/Jazz with a Vintage Rails in the middle. The JB could get most everything except the harder-to-get Iommi tone, which is a very hot pickup, very light strings, a very hot amp, and a very light attack. Still most hard rock and NWBHM tones would be available.

TwangBanger in the middle kills, has a copper plate, very tele like but hot W/with 8.5 K, on one of mine. Hot meaning snarly and rude. Just plain cool single coil. Hums, but worth it at that level.
2 cents,
Steve
