I am in the process of changing the pickups in my strat, shielding it, etc...Guitar is alder 1962 AV RI Fender Strat with Rosewood fingerboard, 6100frets and 10-14 compound radius...
I am going to put the Suhr BPSSC silent coil backplate on the guitar to quiet down the noise on the single coils. Syas alll pickups need to be same polarity and orientation, no RW/RP middle can be used..
Right now I have a SSL-3 tapped in the bridge, that I really like (great harmonics and mids) and Antiquity Surfers RW/RP in neck and Surfer neck in the middle...(Had to wire up this way since the polarity, hum cancelling and phase of pickups, bridge is north polarity, antiquity neck is south, RW/RP is north)..
I am considering something just a little bit thicker for the neck/middle and thought Fralin Blues Specials might have a little more mids?
Wondering if anyone has compared the surfers against the blues specials?
Also wondering what the difference in sound between my SSL-3 hot and the Fralin SP43 would be for the bridge? The Suhr system recommends pickups between 6-8 K for effectiveness, but need hotter pickup in bridge for the high gain stuff I do...
I need to buy another surfer RW/RP for the guitar to put the Suhr silent system in or consider the fralins for the guitar...
I am planning on placing a no load 250 k tone pot and blender pot in the guitar as well...
Was wanting advice from the strat experts. I play in a modern rock trio so need something beefier for the bridge, but like the more traditional strat sounds in the neck and middle with just a touch more mids...
